Peter Lynch is an American investor and retired fund manager who is famous for his successful tenure as portfolio manager of Magellan Fund at Fidelity Investments. He was born on January 19, 1944, in Newton, Massachusetts, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Boston College in 1965.
He joined Fidelity Investments in 1966 as an intern and worked his way up to become the manager of Magellan Fund in 1977. During his period as a portfolio manager, he grew the fund's assets from $20 million to more than $14 billion, achieving an average annual return of 29.2 percent.
